A few weeks ago I made a somewhat spontaneous trip up to NYC - my bestie, Tina, had an interview so I tagged along for moral support and to spend quality BFF time together. It was a hot, hot, hot weekend in the city and an all black outfit was probably not the smartest idea... Although I was sweating bullets, at least this outfit wasn't burning a hole in my wallet - not counting my beloved MK watch, my entire outfit cost less than $150... now that's bargain shopping for ya! I love finding quality items at discount retailers such as Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, and even Target. If you dig, you will find plenty of gems that you will keep in your closet for years to come, bringing the cost-per-wear value wayyy down.

Speaking of quality items... this nail polish is not one of them. I do not get manicures that often and while I love me some OPI, shelling out $8+ for a bottle of polish makes me cringe. During one of my random stop-ins at CVS, I saw a display of Sinful Colors and thought the colors seemed vibrant enough and it was not too water-y like Essie polishes (sorry, I've tried them and I just can't make it work!). I picked up this blue color, which I had never, ever tried on my nails before, and did a little test run with it. While the color went on nicely and smoothly, taking it off was a nightmare! Luckily it was at a professional salon and my manicurist had heavy duty alcohol available but boy, the blue color stained my nails, cuticles, and surrounding skin. It was tough taking it off and although I do not always believe that the cheap price tag means cheap quality, I definitely got what I paid for this round! Do yourself a favor and skip the Sinful Colors, buy yourself a I'm Not Really A Waitress OPI bottle, and just skip a couple lattes at Starbucks to make up for the price difference.

Hope everyone had a fab 4th of July! If you hadn't noticed, I am in Toronto and unfortunately missed out on the fireworks fun but will be enjoying my days off and the wedding coming up tomorrow!
