Did you know that red is my absolute favorite color? It's my first choice for just about anything... my car, shoes, dresses, accessories, nail polish, cell phone case, literally anything and the color is what instantly caught my eye about this dress. Does it look familiar? I wore it a few weeks ago to the Blogger Scene Party (photo on instagram)... but I loved it so much and didn't have a chance to take outfit pictures so I chose to be a repeat offender... don't judge me! Or it could be that it looks a LOT like the Prabal Gurung for Target dress (which is on sale for $17 online right now - lots of sizes left!) I did buy the PGxT dress when it first came out but the fit was all wrong on my body - the waist line was wayyy too high on me however it looked amazing on Lacey!
Since the dress was the teensiest bit big on me, I added a slim black belt that helped highlight my waist and ensured that I didn't get lost in the fabric. I could've stuck with black for the rest of my accessories but it was such a beautiful day outside I wanted to throw on more neutral pieces such as this purse and the heels - it definitely made the outfit more casual and perfect for the sunny 90-degree weather we had that day! These heels (and the purse) are super old (throwback!), and both were gifts/hand-me-downs from my sister. If you are looking for a similar pair of shoes though, many Marshall's and TJ Maxx's have some still in stock by the same brand (you can see them on Kimberly here).
The occasion for which I dressed up was my BFF's graduation! I was posting many pictures of motar boards and graduation gowns on instagram and it was all in celebration of her big days. Yep that's right, she got to walk the stage twice. That's what you get for having a genius for a best friend - she double majors and forces you to sit through two ceremonies (just kidding, Tina! Love you lots!!) I am so proud of her accomplishments and know she will achieve so much more greatness and have so much success in her life. I am so happy and lucky to be her friend since middle school! (Oh and can we just talk about how awesome her hair was?? She pin-curled it and it came out beautifully!)
Have any of you noticed anything else from my photos above?? I finally cut my hair! It had been 9 months since the last cut... NINE MONTHS! Who does that? Me apparently. Anyways, since I was so long overdue for a cut, I decided to make a trip to W Salon to see Sue, who I had met at a blogger event a couple months back. I told her exactly what I wanted - only a few inches off to get rid of the dead ends, long layers, rounded out in the back, and side bangs. Now for some reason, whenever I ask a hair stylist for side bangs I do not get side bangs. My previous stylist used to always try talking me out of it but I would persist and he would say okay... but then I would get some weird shorter pieces that usually end up blending in with my hair and didn't swoop across my forehead like I expect. Finally I was able to get a stylist who truly listened to me. Sue made my hair look and feel so beautiful, light, and greatly refreshed! Speaking of the W Salon - they are having an event there tomorrow night co-hosted by Ryan of Fashionisto Diaries. I'll be there - will you??
